Beta testing · A calmer way to read on your iPhone

Keep the article.
Leave the clutter.

Steady Reader is a web browser and reading tool designed to make mobile reading clearer, more comfortable, and easier to shape around you—with tracker protection, adjustable text, and a focused view of the content you chose.

Why Steady Reader is being built

Reading on a phone should adapt to the person holding it—not ask the person to adapt to a busy page.

Steady Reader’s mission is to make everyday mobile reading more usable and enjoyable by combining a capable browser with automatic protection against recognized trackers, a focused article view, and optional presentation tools.

The app is intended to help readers concentrate on the published content they chose. Reader removes ads, navigation, pop-ups, and other unrelated page elements where practical while retaining useful text, relevant images, captions, and links. It is not intended to change the publisher’s meaning, replace the original page, or promise that every website will work perfectly in Reader mode.

Start reading in a few taps

  1. 1

    Open a page

Use the address field to enter a website or search. The Back, Forward, and Reload controls work like those in other browsers.

  2. 2

    Choose Read

On a compatible article, tap Read. Steady Reader removes ads and unrelated page clutter where practical, then rebuilds the main story as one continuous surface with relevant headings, text, images, captions, and links.

  3. 3

    Make it yours

Pinch in or out to change the text size and let the page reflow around the new setting. This is designed to help readers who need larger close-up text. In Reader, you can also use the text-size buttons, choose a theme, listen to the article, or use available translation controls. Tap Web to return to the original page.

Protection

Block recognized trackers

Tracker protection is applied automatically while you browse. It rejects recognized tracking requests and provides activity details and per-site controls in Privacy and Security.

Readable text

Pinch to resize

Pinch to enlarge or reduce text while the page reflows to fit. The control is intended to make close-up reading easier without simply magnifying the entire screen.

Reader

Focus on the article

Reader removes ads, menus, promotional panels, and unrelated information where practical so the publisher’s main text and relevant media are easier to follow.

Tabs

Keep topics together

Open multiple pages, switch between tabs, organize tab groups, and return to recently closed or inactive tabs.

Library

Save what matters

Use bookmarks, folders, History, and the Reading List to find pages again. You can import bookmarks stored in the Files app.

Page Actions

More tools, one place

Find text on a page, share or copy a link, print or save a PDF, open downloads, review site permissions, and reach App Info.

Private Tabs

Separate private sessions

Private tabs use a temporary browsing store, are not added to local History, and are not restored after the private session ends.

When Reader is unavailable

Some pages do not contain a recognizable article, block extraction, or depend on interactive layouts. Continue in Web view, or use Try Reader when it is offered. Always refer to the original webpage when exact formatting, interactive content, or publisher context matters.

Managing website data and permissions

Open Page Actions, then Privacy and Security, to review site permissions, tracking protection, Motion Zoom face-data information, and controls for clearing cache, cookies, History, suggestions, or all browsing data. Clearing data may sign you out of websites.

Read safely and stay aware

Important movement warning

Do not use Steady Reader while you are moving.

Using a browser while walking, running, riding, driving, or otherwise moving can distract you from traffic, obstacles, changes in terrain, and other hazards. Stop in a safe place before reading or interacting with the app.

If you choose to use Steady Reader while moving despite this warning, you do so voluntarily and at your own risk. You are responsible for your actions, decisions, surroundings, and any resulting injury, death, property damage, loss, or harm to yourself or another person.

Stop if you feel discomfort

Stop using Steady Reader if you experience eyestrain, headache, dizziness, nausea, disorientation, or other discomfort. Rest and seek medical advice when symptoms are severe, persistent, or concerning.

Your surroundings come first

Never use the app while driving, cycling, operating machinery, crossing streets, or in any situation where looking at a screen could put you or others at risk. Motion-responsive features do not make screen use safe while moving.

Not medical care

Steady Reader is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, prevent, or guarantee relief from motion sickness, vision conditions, balance disorders, or any other medical condition.

Use optional motion features carefully

Begin with comfortable settings and a stable seated or stationary position. Motion-responsive presentation may not feel comfortable for everyone. Turn it off whenever it distracts you or makes reading harder.

Web content remains third-party content

Reader mode may omit, reorder, or misinterpret page elements. Use the original webpage to confirm warnings, instructions, prices, dates, legal language, medical information, financial information, and other important details.

Protect your information

Review the destination before entering passwords, payment details, or personal information. Private browsing reduces information retained by Steady Reader, but it does not make you anonymous to websites, networks, or service providers.

A plain-language privacy summary

Steady Reader is designed so that browser records such as tabs, bookmarks, History, reading-list items, preferences, and downloads stay on your device unless you choose to share or export something. Taylor Made SW LLC does not use the app to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

  • Websites: Pages you visit can receive network information and may use their own cookies, tracking, accounts, and privacy practices. Their policies—not this summary—govern their collection.
  • Motion Zoom: When enabled with permission, the camera is used to estimate viewing distance. The feature is designed to process face-related measurements on the device rather than save photos or send camera imagery to Taylor Made SW LLC.
  • System services: Password AutoFill, passkeys where supported, speech voices, translation, printing, sharing, and file handling are provided partly by Apple or services you select and may be governed by their terms.
  • Your controls: Use Privacy and Security in the app to review permissions and clear browser data. You can also control camera access in iOS Settings.
